| The Sacramento Bee Adds Ad-Pay e-Commerce
to GDT-Nova's Online Advertising Suite
June 11, 2004: ComScript Publishing Inc. (GDT-NOVA) and AdPay Inc.
(AdPay), announced the signing of a purchase agreement to supply
The Sacramento Bee (daily circulation 294,304; average web page
views per month: 15.1 million) with a fully integrated print and
eCommerce solution that provides the advertiser with an online marketplace,
including the ability to add descriptive display ad information,
images, make offers online, and support multimedia content for online
classified ads.
The eCommerce solution utilizes the AdPay application services
(www.adpay.com)
integrated with GDTNOVA's ConnexPipeline XML server (www.gdtnova.com)
for both print and online ad processing. The Bee's call center is
also linked into the online ad process and can offer online upsells
to print customers for the eCommerce site.
With the introduction of the AdPay solution, The Sacramento Bee's
AdEZ customers have an online marketplace complete with the ability
to add descriptive information, images, multimedia content, negotiate
and complete transactions online and send the marketplace ad content
to print.
"Adding AdPay's online commerce capability is what building value
is all about. By refocusing advertisers to the local newspaper,
we preserve and increase the newspaper's market-share and revenue
generation capabilities," stated Jan McDonald, CEO of ComScript
Publishing Inc. "This is what AdEZ has done with online classifieds.
By integrating AdPay's services, this success will extend to the
newspaper's eCommerce revenues threatened by eBay®." The project
is considered a pilot project for additional McClatchy properties.
The AdPay eCommerce option is priced as an upsell for advertisers
and both the print and online ad is paid for by credit card, contract
rate, or purchase order during ad submission. ConnexPipeline passes
advertising content to the print publishing system for live costing,
H&J and preview of the print and online commerce selections.
"AdPay is very excited to be working closely with GDT NOVA," said
Mike Heene, President and CEO of AdPay. "Our integration with ConnexPipeline
ensures that GDT NOVA's customers will be able to take full advantage
of AdPay's online commerce capabilities, immediately creating new
revenue opportunities and strengthening their competitive position."
